What does TypeMic cost?

Your first 7 days are unlimited — no account, no card. After that you keep 2,000 dictated words every week, free forever. TypeMic Pro unlocks unlimited dictation on every device you link — $12/month or $120/year. The iPhone and Android keyboards are in early access.

Does my voice ever leave my computer?

No. TypeMic transcribes on your device and works fully offline — nothing is uploaded, ever, unless you deliberately configure a cloud service with your own account.

Which Linux distributions does TypeMic support?

All the major ones — Ubuntu, Debian, Fedora, openSUSE, Arch. The installer detects your system and sets everything up automatically.

Does dictation work in every application?

Yes. TypeMic types at the cursor in whatever app has focus — terminals, browsers, IDEs, chat clients. A global hotkey starts and stops recording, and an on-screen waveform shows it is listening.

Do I need a GPU?

No. The local models transcribe in real time on a modern CPU. If a supported GPU is present, TypeMic uses it automatically for extra speed.

How is TypeMic different from cloud dictation apps?

Cloud dictation tools stream your microphone to their servers. TypeMic does everything on your machine: transcription, AI cleanup, and statistics. No account, no subscription, no audio uploads — and it works in airplane mode.
