Now on the Mac.
Hold a key, speak, release, your words appear at the cursor. The same engine that runs TypeMic on Linux, built natively for macOS: one universal binary for Apple Silicon and Intel, signed with a Developer ID and notarized by Apple. Dictations run through TypeMic’s own Predator engine, processed, never stored.
macOS 11 Big Sur or later
UniversalOpen the disk image and drag TypeMic to Applications. The first time you open it, macOS asks for the three permissions dictation needs. Microphone, Accessibility, and Input Monitoring, and TypeMic sets itself up to start when you log in.

Three permissions, and why
macOS asks before any app may listen or type, and TypeMic asks for exactly three, no more. You grant them once, in System Settings, and you can revoke any of them at any time.
- Microphone, to hear you while the key is held. The microphone is opened for the dictation and closed with it, so macOS’s orange recording dot tells the truth.
- Accessibility, to type the result at your cursor, the way a keyboard does.
- Input Monitoring, to notice your push-to-talk key. TypeMic watches one key and discards every other keystroke before it leaves the system.
What ships, plainly
The Mac build is cloud-first: dictation runs through our own Predator engine, which is why the download is ~4 MB rather than hundreds. TypeMic keeps itself up to date, and it only installs an update that is still signed by us and notarized by Apple.
